CINCINNATI, OH – ConstructConnect, one of North America’s leading providers of construction information and technology solutions, announced its eighth annual fall economic webcast: Post-Election Outlook for Design and Construction.” The complimentary webcast — featuring industry-leading chief economists Kermit Baker of The American Institute of Architects (AIA), Ken Simonson of The Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) and Alex Carrick of ConstructConnect — will take place at 2 p.m. EST on November 17.

With construction activity maintaining a forward, but slow momentum, find out if the economists expect election results to have an effect on the upcoming season. All three economists will take questions in the last half hour of the session.

“Much of both residential and non-residential construction spending has been on hold of late, partly due to uncertainty concerning the U.S. Presidential election result,” said Alex Carrick, U.S. chief economist for ConstructConnect. “By November 17th, the outcome will be known and during the webcast we’ll discuss our assessments of the new framework in which owners will be making their capital investment decisions.”

The webcast will cover numerous other questions important to the construction industry including:

• To what extent has the recent deceleration in capital spending been due to underlying economic factors versus uncertainty concerning the outcome of the Presidential election?
• With a resolution of the big political question, which type-of-structure categories will receive an investment boost from the new economic framework? Which will suffer a setback?
• The recovery in residential construction continues to lag behind the expectations of most analysts. Is this temporary or rather due to long-term shifts in housing tastes and demography?
• Will the Federal Reserve soon be moving more aggressively to shift interest rates upwards?
• The jobless rate in construction is at a historic low and wages in the sector are increasing faster than in the economy as a whole. Will labor cost and availability soon loom as larger issues?
• Are there supply/demand and pricing developments in global commodity markets that suggest building material costs might begin climbing again?
• Where are the regions in the U.S. where construction activity will heat up? Cool down?
