This statement represents the goal of software developers. While this goal is being approached, there is a solution that has been developed over 10 years ago. Building Works Inc. provides their DataSphere close-out document access tool. The DataSphere houses CAD files, 3D models, PDF’s, and other file types that make up a typical set of turnover documents. Without software, an FM staff accesses the information needed for the day-to-day operational needs of a facility.
Information in the DataSphere can be connected to an owner’s facility management software system. This is a cost and time saver. It also mitigates data input errors.
A 3D model made specifically for maintenance can grow from a model (or models) used for design and construction. The goal of creating the protocols for this model are still under development.
