The accompanying table records the 10 largest construction project starts in the U.S. in May 2016.
There are several reasons for highlighting upcoming large projects. Such jobs have often received a fair amount of media coverage. Therefore, people in the industry are on the lookout for when jobsite work actually gets underway. And, as showcase projects, they highlight geographically where major construction projects are proceeding.
Total construction activity is comprised of many small and medium-sized projects and a limited number of large developments. But the largest projects, simply by their nature, can dramatically affect total dollar and square footage volumes. In other words, the timing and size of these projects have an exaggerated influence on market forecasts.

I am surprised that the biggest construction project isn’t in Utah, because that state always has big projects going on. However, Denver is close enough to there and the Greystar project looks pretty big. Do you know whether or not both structures will be 16 stories high or if that is the combined amount of stories?
Hi Faylinn, Thanks for the interesting comment. We don’t combine story heights, so it’s either both towers at 16 stories each … or one tower at 16 stories with a lower-rise structure (maybe comprised of townhouses) nearby.
Intresting to see Liberty Lake being the highest construction project in Washington. Especially since devlopement in Seattle is skyrocketing.
